A 29-year-old man has been sentenced for robbery at Laganside Crown Court today, Friday, 1st December.

Stephen Beattie pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a total of 16 months in custody and two years on licence.

A spokesperson from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Criminal Investigations Department based in Antrim said: “Beattie robbed commercial premises in Glengormley in January of this year and made off with a substantial sum of cash. During the robbery, the female business owner was assaulted.

"This was an extremely distressing ordeal for Beattie's victim. Today’s sentencing offers reassurance that we, along with partner organisations, remain committed to achieving appropriate criminal justice outcomes on behalf of victims of crime."
