Police investigating a report of a robbery in Newry in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, January 15, have arrested a man.
Detective Sergeant Johnston said: "It was reported just before 2.25am that a man forced entry to a staff-only area in entertainment premises in the Margaret Square area, before telling a female member of staff that he had a knife and demanding the contents of the till. He left the premises on foot with a sum of cash.
"The suspect was described as being approximately 5' 7" tall and of medium build with short ginger hair and a moustache. He was also described as wearing jeans and a dark jacket.
"A short time later, a man, aged in his thirties, was arrested nearby on suspicion of robbery. He remains in custody assisting with enquiries.
"Our enquiries remain ongoing and we would appeal to anyone with information, including dashcam or other video footage, to contact us on 101, quoting reference 241 of 15/1/23."
