Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a report of an aggravated burglary in north Belfast on Sunday evening, 26th March.
Detective Sergeant Alexander said: “Police received a report shortly before 11.15pm that two masked men entered a house in the Silverstream Road area.
“A man, who was inside the property at the time, was hit across the knee and back by one of the men who was armed with a suspected hammer. The men then made off on foot.
“Both of the masked suspects were of medium build and were wearing dark-coloured clothing.
“Our investigation is now underway to establish what happened, who was involved and a motive.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, and saw anything suspicious, or two suspects matching this description, to call detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1879 of 26/03/23.”
