Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s International Policing Unit have today, Tuesday 30th January 2024, extradited a 59-year-old man from Poland to Northern Ireland.

He is wanted to stand trial for a number of sexual offences against children that occurred in the Newtownards area from 2010 to 2012.

Following today’s extradition he is now due to appear before Downpatrick Crown Court tomorrow, Wednesday 31st, January.

Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: “This demonstrates our commitment to work with International Law Enforcement partners to track down wanted persons and bring offenders to justice.

“Our message is clear to anyone who has left Northern Ireland to avoid arrest or the consequences of their actions. We will relentlessly pursue those that are trying to delay or deny justice to victims of crime.”
