Area Commander for west Belfast, Ch/Insp Claire Hamilton, took part in a youth International Women's Day event – ‘Her Day, Her Way’ - in W5, Belfast today. She was joined by (l-r) Councillor Tracy Kelly, DUP; Haileigh Ashton Lamont, a sexual abuse victim and survivor; and the event host Nadia Sayers, Mental Health and Early Intervention Educator and former Miss Universe Ireland.
Together, they answered questions from young people in relation to ending Violence Against Women and Girls.
The event was organised by the Education Authority’s Regional Youth Service and over 200 young people attended from across Northern Ireland. It featured guest speakers and workshops around various issues, including women’s health, safety at night, fitness, careers, newcomer young people, neuro-divergence and disabilities in young women.
