A man was sentenced to two years today, Thursday 19th January. 50-year-old Gregory Wallace will serve six months in custody and 18 months on license, after he was convicted of a number of firearms related offences.

Mr Wallace received the jail terms after pleading guilty to offences including possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, theft and possession of a firearm in a public place at Craigavon Crown Court.

The sentencing follows an investigation into a report of a man armed with a number of weapons, including a knife and a firearm, in a shopping centre in the Lisburn area in February 2022. Mr Wallace was arrested and following searches of his home a number of other weapons were seized including twenty air rifles.

Detective Sergeant Cargin said: “Mr Wallace brought a number of lethal weapons into a public place which caused real risk to the general public who were in the shopping centre at the time. I hope this sentencing sends out a clear message to anyone who thinks they can get away with this type of crime. We will work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts."
