Police have arrested two men aged 29 and 30 years of age, on suspicion of a number of offences, following the report of theft from a taxi driver in North Belfast in the early hours of Sunday 12 February.
Detective Chief Inspector Wendy Pollock said: “The taxi driver picked the men up from an address in the Ligoneil Road area shortly after 00.15. 
“When they reached the Crumlin Road, the men attempted to pay the fare using a debit cards which were declined. When the taxi driver asked the men to pay the fare in cash, they threatened the taxi driver, stole his mobile phone and made off from the taxi on foot. 
“While the two men remain in custody, we would appeal to anyone who was in the Ligoneil Road or Crumlin Road areas just after midnight, into the early hours of Sunday who witnessed this incident, or who may have dash cam or mobile phone footage, to call us 101, quoting reference 38 of 12/02/23.
