Update on the security alert in Holywood yesterday, Wednesday 27th December.
Police received a report of a fire and possible suspicious device in the Firmount Crescent area at around 12.10am.
Officers conducted further enquiries at the scene and at this stage police believe that an aerosol can was set alight causing a small fire, rather than a suspicious device.
There were no reports of any injuries or damage caused.
Police continue to appeal to anyone who saw three people traveling by foot along the Old Holywood Road in the direction of Holywood at the time, or anyone with any other information, to call 101 and quoting reference number 21 of 27/12/23.
