Two arrested in connection with disorder in north Belfast

Police in north Belfast have arrested two men in connection with recent disorder in the New Lodge area.

Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Paul Noble said: “Officers from the Oldpark Neighbourhood Team arrested the men, aged 19 and 50, in the north Belfast area this morning ( Thursday 3rd October ).

They were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including riotous behaviour, possessing a petrol bomb and throwing a petrol bomb and both remain in custody at this time assisting with our enquiries.”

Inspector Noble continued: “We continue to investigate the disorder that occurred over the summer months in the New Lodge area and would appeal to anyone with any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact officers at Tennent St on 101.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
