Robbery - Aston Gardens, East Belfast

Detectives are re-appealing for information following the report of the robbery of an elderly woman at Aston Gardens in the Upper Newtownards Road area of east Belfast on the afternoon of Monday 25 April.

The woman, aged in her 90’s, was struck on the head with a stick and had her handbag stolen by a man at around 4pm. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment. The attacker was described as being aged around 60 to 65 years old, of thin build with a full face, around 5’10" or 5'11" tall and was wearing a fawn or beige flat cap with a peak and a khaki or grey overcoat worn over a suit. He spoke with an average Belfast accent.

Detective Inspector Nigel Snoddy said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101 or via the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
