Man Charged with Murder of James Hughes

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of James Hughes in West Belfast last weekend have charged a 42 year old man with murder. He will appear at Laganside Court this morning, Wednesday, 9 November.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Geddes said: “Although a suspect has been charged, we are continuing to appeal for information and have widened the relevant appeal period. We now want to hear from anyone in Divis Tower who saw James Hughes or witnessed anything suspicious between Friday evening, 4 November and the evening of Sunday, 6 November to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact us on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
