Arson attack, Drumard Park, Derry-Londonderry

Detectives are investigating an early morning arson attack in Derry-Londonderry.

Detective Sergeant Brian Reid explains: “At around 3am on Tuesday 12 April police were alerted to a fire at a house in Drumard Park. It appears some old furniture was deliberately placed against the front door of the property and set alight, blocking the doorway.

Thankfully all four residents inside were able to make their way out safely via the backdoor after being awoken by the smoke alarm however the front of the home was badly damaged by the blaze.

A motive for the incident has not yet been established.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact us on the non-emergency number 101.
