Murder inquiry launched following shooting in west Belfast

Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have launched a murder enquiry following a shooting at a house in Glenbawn Avenue in West Belfast last night, Tuesday 13 February.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Montgomery said: “The male victim, who was in his late 20s, died after being shot just before 8pm.

“At this time we are working to establish a motive for the attack and are appealing for anyone with information which may assist us with our inquiries to contact us.

“Anyone who has any information about this incident is asked to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1192 of 13/02/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

We are keen to hear from witnesses of this incident

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact us on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
