Security alert - Upper Lisburn Road, Finaghy, Belfast

An overnight security alert on the Upper Lisburn Road, Belfast caused 'inconvenience, disruption and upset for local people'

A number of residential properties had toi be evacuated after a suspicious object was discovered at around midnight.

The suspect device was examined by ATO and was subsequently found to be a deliberate hoax.

All evacuated residents returned home shortly before 4am

Inspector Darren Hardy said: "This hoax device caused massive inconvenience, disruption and upset for the local community, including many elderly and vulnerable people.

We are keen to hear from anyone with information or who may have witnessed the hoax device being left in the area. The number to call is 101."
