Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force have arrested a 30 year old man in East Belfast today following a house search in the area.
Detective Sergeant Ricky Thompson, from the PCTF said: “Officers seized a quantity of suspected class A and B drugs, as well as drugs paraphernalia and cash following today’s searches. As a result a 30 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug with intent to supply, possession of a class A Drug, possession of a Class B Drug and possession of Criminal Property. He is currently in Musgrave Custody Suite where he is assisting police with their enquiries.
“Today’s search operation was in relation to an ongoing investigation into the activities of East Belfast UVF and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to removing and disrupting the illegal supply of drugs in Northern Ireland.”
The Police Service of Northern Ireland, HM Revenue & Customs and the National Crime Agency have established the Paramilitary Crime Task Force to tackle criminality linked to paramilitarism as part of the Executive’s action plan on tackling paramilitary activity, criminality and organised crime.
