Six Birthday Honours have come to policing in Northern Ireland.
Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Martin has been awarded an OBE for Services to Policing and the Community in Northern Ireland.
Three Queen’s Police Medals (QPM) have been awarded. They go to Inspector Andrew Archibald, Detective Constable Paul Slaine and one other officer who has requested no publicity.
One BEM has also been awarded to Patricia Roulston for Services to Policing.
One other officer has been awarded an MBE for Services to Policing and the Community in Northern Ireland and has requested no publicity.
Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Martin has over 32 years’ service. He has served in a number of operational and strategic roles, most recently as ACC for Crime Operations Department. Throughout his career he has built and developed relationships across the communities in which he has served. His present responsibilities include reactive and organised crime and Public protection. He also leads on the Organised Crime Task Force and the Joint Agency Task Force.
Speaking about his award Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Martin said: “I am personally delighted and feel extremely privileged and honoured to have received this award. I regard this OBE as recognition for the entire Police Service and for all of the officers and staff I have served alongside over the years and for those I have had the honour to lead. We have worked hard to serve all communities in Northern Ireland, often during challenging times, to make this a safer place for everyone.
“I would also like to thank and acknowledge the huge support I have received from my family throughout my career.”
Inspector Andrew Archibald has been a police officer for 34 years.
During his time he has served across Northern Ireland in a range of uniform roles.
Throughout his career he has been influential in enhancing relationships and building community confidence in policing. He is currently the local Community Inspector in Limavady and Magherafelt.
Detective Constable Paul Slaine has given over 30 years’ service to policing in Northern Ireland.
During his time he served as a uniformed officer and a detective. He currently holds a position as detective constable in Crime Operations Department.
Patricia Roulston is a Police Staff member and has worked in the Police Service for over 16 years. Alongside her day to day role within the organisation, Patricia has also worked with the Women’s Police Association and has supported and encouraged the development of other females. In addition to her professional contribution, she has been heavily involved in raising funds for a number of local charities.
