Detectives are investigating an aggravated burglary at a house on Forthriver Road in north Belfast.

It’s understood three masked men armed with hammers gained entry to the property at around 8pm on Friday 26 March. They assaulted the resident, a 21 year old man, with the hammers and dumbbells which they had found within the property.

The intruders caused damage to the kitchen before making off.

The victim, who was struck on the head, face and knee, required hospital treatment for his injuries.
