Newry Mourne and Down is made up of the former Newry and Mourne and Down District policing areas. With a population of around 171,500 and a coastline of 100 miles, it spans from Crossmaglen in south Armagh to Saintfield in south Down. There are seven District Electoral Areas: Crotlieve, Downpatrick, Newry, Rowallane, The Mournes, Slieve Croob and Slieve Gullion and our policing areas of responsibility will reflect these.

Superintendent Norman Haslett is the Commander in charge of Newry, Mourne and Down District Command Unit. He is based at Ardmore Police Station and assisted by Chief Inspector Lynne Corbett who has responsibility for engagement, and Chief Inspector Adam Corner who is responsible for policing in south Armagh.

Your Local Policing Area

Communities living in Newry, Mourne and Down District have two Local Policing Response Teams (LPRTs) based in Newry and Downpatrick Police Stations, providing 24 hour cover to keep people safe.

LPRTs are supported by eight Local Neighbourhood Policing Teams (LNPTs), based in Newtownhamilton, Newry, Newcastle and Downpatrick, and one District Support Team based in Newry.
