Four Birthday Honours have been awarded to police officers and police staff from the Police Service of Northern Ireland.


Three Queen’s Police Medals (QPM) and one British Empire Medal (BEM) have been awarded to all recipients for their Services to Policing and the Community in Northern Ireland.

The BEM is awarded to Leanne Barnett, Temporary Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement Department.

The QPMs go to Sergeant Darren Welsh, Constable Ricky Taylor and a third recipient who has requested no publicity.


BEM

Leanne has worked in the Strategic Communications and Engagement Department for almost 20 years.  During this time, Leanne has made a significant contribution to the development of internal and external communications and has built strong relationships with media and key stakeholders.


QPM

Sergeant Darren Welsh has been a police officer for 30 years. During this time, he has worked tirelessly within the Newry and South Armagh area.  Throughout his career, he has been influential in enhancing relationships and building community confidence in policing.

Constable Ricky Taylor has over 25 years service.  He has worked in Operational planning and has provided a critical role in organising policing operations around some of the largest and most complex events which have taken place across Northern Ireland.  Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in developing strategic partnerships and collaborations with government departments, local communities and businesses to enhance confidence in policing.
