Today, Tuesday 9th April,  a 26 year old man and a 36 year old woman were sentenced at Laganside Crown Court after pleading guilty to a number of offences, including grievous bodily harm with intent, threats to kill, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

Dylan Black, from the Lisburn area, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He will serve three years on license.

Danielle Carson, from the Belfast area, was sentenced to three years and nine months, suspended for three years.

Sergeant Rice, from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Reducing Offending Unit said “This was a brutal and senseless attack, where the victim sustained significant injuries including a traumatic brain injury.

“I would like to take this opportunity to praise the victim for her bravery in coming forward and assisting our investigation to bring these offenders to justice.”

“Violence against women and girls is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our  society. We take every report seriously and will robustly investigate all reports.”
