Race and Ethnicity Action Plan 2025 - 2027 Consultation
The Purpose of this Consultation
We are seeking your views on how we, as the Police Service of Northern Ireland, can better serve our ethnic minority communities. We are committed to developing a robust Race and Ethnicity Action Plan, which aims to ensure that everyone in Northern Ireland feels safe, valued, and engaged with policing.
This consultation is an opportunity for you to share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences to help shape our approach. Your feedback will directly influence the development of this plan, helping us ensure that our policing service is engaged, inclusive and fair for all communities.
Our Action Plan Commitments
As part of our Race and Ethnicity Action Plan, we are making the following key commitments:
- We are an anti-racist Police Service.
- We are committed to people from an ethnic minority background feeling safe, valued by and engaged in policing.
- We are committed to staff and officers from an ethnic minority background feeling safe, valued by and engaged in the workplace.
- We are a Police Service who can be trusted by people from ethnic minority communities.
- We are a Police Service who strive for excellence in diversity, equality and inclusivity.

Response Questions
To guide your responses, we would appreciate your input on the following questions:
- What are your overall thoughts on the Race and Ethnicity Action Plan?
- Does the plan reflect the priorities and concerns of ethnic minority communities in Northern Ireland?
- Do you feel that the commitments outlined in the plan are clear and achievable?
- If not, what would you suggest, to improve the clarity or focus of these commitments?
- Do you agree with the Police Service’s commitment to being an anti-racist organisation?
- Are there any areas that you feel are missing or not given enough attention? If so, what are they?

What Happens When the Consultation Closes
All responses will be analysed and considered along with other available information to help finalise our action plan.
We will publish an analysis report of the consultation responses.
Our intention is to publish our action plan in early 2025.
Consultation Period
This consultation will run for an 8 week period, commencing on Monday 21 October 2024, and concluding on Monday 16 December 2024.
