Subject: Autumn Budget 2024 Extra Costs
Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.
Request 1
The cost, defined as the extra amount of money that you will have to pay over the next financial year, that your territorial police force will incur as a result of the increase in employers National Insurance Contributions as of the Autumn Budget 2024
Answer
The extra amount of money that PSNI will have to pay over the next financial year as a result of the increase in employers’ National Insurance Contributions as of the Autumn 2024 Budget is approx. £10 million.
Request 2
The cost, defined as the extra amount of money that you will have to pay over the next financial year, that your territorial police force will incur as a result of the increase in
a) National Minimum Wage and
b) National Living Wage as of the Autumn Budget 2024.
Answer
PSNI will not have to pay any extra money over the next financial year as a result of the increase in
National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage as of the Autumn 2024 Budget.
