Under the Freedom of Information Act please can I request the following information broken down by the following calendar years: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024.
Request 1
How many applications has your force made to local councils to review the licence of a business suspected of selling stolen goods during the calendar years mentioned above.
Request 2
How many of these applications resulted in a licence being permanently revoked.
Answer
Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does not hold information in relation to your requests. Enquiries made in relation to your request failed to locate any records or documents relevant to your request based on the information you have provided.
On the mainland, the Council grant and enforce licences, whereas in Northern Ireland, it is the Courts who issue the licences and police have sole responsibility for enforcement.
Therefore, we suggest directing this request to the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunal Service (NICTS), Freedom of information | Department of Justice.
Accordingly, we have determined that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does not hold the information to which you seek access.
