Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Request
The online website Police.uk are unable to update Northern Irelands own crime maps, as the required open-source crime data has not been provided to data.Police.uk by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), since September 2023.

Other online platforms, such as CrimeRate.co.uk are also unable to display - or even calculate - crime statistics for the Police Service of Northern Irelands coverage areas, including Belfast City, without data being provided by the PSNI to data.Police.uk.

CrimeRate.co.uk, have mentioned this on their website, "We will restore coverage as soon as the Police Service of Northern Ireland resume publishing data."

Please can you confirm if the PSNI has provided crime data to data.Police.uk for the purpose of updating the Police.uk crime map website, for each month over the last year?

Answer
Information held by PSNI indicates that the last data sent by PSNI to Police.uk mapping service related to crimes that occurred in July 2023.

PSNI continue to work the technical team in the UK police mapping service in order to resume this functionality. It is hoped that we will be in a position to share the relevant Northern Ireland crime data relatively soon.  To provide some reassurance for those seeking to PSNI crime data, once the mechanisms are in place to share PSNI data with the mapping service, PSNI aim to upload the crime data that covers the period in which those monthly datasets could not be uploaded.
