Subject: Data breach queries for former Officers/Staff
Request and Answer:
Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.
Question 1
In relation to the data breach in August 2023 which saw the personal information of PSNI officers and staff published online:
Can you advise if the same personal information of any former officers or staff were included in this?
I.E. Any who had retired, resigned or otherwise left the organisation?
Answer 1
No. The data breach only affected members (officers and staff) who were recorded as being in service on 1st August 2023.
Question 2
Can you advise if any former staff or officers have raised a complaint in relation to their personal information being revealed in the August 2023 data breach?
Answer 2
PSNI has interpreted this question as to refer to the same officers and staff referred to in Question 1.
