Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold some information to which your request relates and this is being provided to you.
We do not however hold information in relation to question number 2 below.
We have also provided you with links to guidance issued by the Information Commissioner’s Office which we have followed in responding to your request.

Question 1
How many people have been caught driving too fast in the last years from 1st April 2022 to date?

Answer 1
PSNI can confirm that between 1st April 2022 and 31st July 2025 there were 278,188 speeding offences recorded in Northern Ireland.

Notes:

1. This includes speeding detections by both the PSNI and the NI Road Safety Partnership.

2. Figures are provisional and subject to change.

3. Includes detections that resulted in a fixed penalty notice, speed awareness course or a referral for prosecution.

4. Latest available data is up to 31st July 2025.

Question 2
How many people have been caught driving too slow in the last years from 1st April 2022 to date?

Answer 2
Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does not hold information in relation to your requests.

Enquiries made in relation to your request failed to locate any records or documents relevant to your request based on the information you have provided. There is no specific offence for driving too slowly, which is likely to be captured under wider offences such as careless driving. It would not be possible to identify all offences within this group which relate to a driving too slowly, therefore, information is not held.

Accordingly, we have determined that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does not hold the information to which you seek access.
