Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Question 1
For each district council area in NI, please provide the number of incidents of driving under the influence of drink and drugs that has been detected so far this year.

So, from January 1 to October 7.

Question 2
Please give me the same statistics for the last three years. So, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Question 3
As well as that, please give me the number of incidents of driving under the influence of drink and drugs that were detected in the years of 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2024. For this set, please give me the figures from January 1 to December 31.

If you don't keep the numbers for detections, then I will take charges or convictions instead.

Please find attached .csv file in response to your questions. Please note, PSNI Statistics Branch only hold drink/drug driving offence prosecution referrals from 2011. The latest data available is up to 31st July 2025.
