Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Has your force formally adopted the Enhanced Occupational Health Standards developed by Oscar Kilo. Please answer Yes or No and provide the date of adoption if applicable.

If your force has not yet adopted the Enhanced Standards is there a planned timeline for doing so. Please specify anticipated dates or current stage of implementation.

Has your force conducted any internal audit assessment or benchmarking against the Enhanced Standards. If yes please provide the date or dates and any summary findings or publicly releasable outcomes.

Does your occupational health provision include tailored psychological support or screening for officers and staff in high risk roles such as digital forensics investigators CSAM units and child protection teams. Not the standard approach applied to every officer and staff. Please provide a description of any specialist services if applicable.

PSNI have a suite of resources available for all of our officers and staff to avail of including a psychological self-assessment App, Wellbeing and Trauma Resilience Plan, Peer Support Services (including debriefing and defusing), self-referral early intervention for trauma exposure (modified Group Traumatic Episode Protocol) and a range of psychological support and trauma education. Some tailored training has been delivered to our high risk groups on an ad hoc basis. We also provide psychological assessments for one of our high risk teams on a six-monthly basis to ensure fitness for role.

PSNI submitted and won runner up in last year’s Oscar Kilo Awards in the category – Protecting the Workforce. This year we have also submitted nominations in three categories. However these award nominations are not directly linked to our Occupational Health Standards but include Peer Support, Trauma Support, and Family Support.
