Subject: Fines Collected for Motoring Offenses in Northern Ireland

I am writing to formally request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the amount of money collected through fines for motoring offenses in Northern Ireland for the period between 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2024. Specifically, I would like to request the following details:
Request 1
The total amount of money collected through fines for all motoring offenses during the specified period.
Request 2
A breakdown of how much was collected per category of offense, including but not limited to the following categories:
a) Dangerous driving
b) Speeding
c) Careless driving
d) Any other relevant categories of motoring offenses
Request 3
The total amount collected during 2023 and 2022 respectively.

Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does not hold information in relation to your requests. Enquiries made in relation to your request failed to locate any records or documents relevant to your request based on the information you have provided.
We can advise that PSNI do not hold information on fixed penalty notices - this is managed through the Courts. You can make an FOI request to the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service via the following email address: [email protected].
