Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.
Request
I was hoping I could get information on the amount of times PSNI officers discharged their firearms within the last year, along with the reason for firing. Particularly in the Derry and Strabane area.
Answer
The most recently published use of force statistics cover the 12 month period April 2024 to March 2025. During this time there were no firearm discharges by PSNI officers in Northern Ireland (1).
(1) Excludes negligent discharges and the humane destruction of animals.
