Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold some information to which your request relates and this is being provided to you.
We do not however hold information in relation to request number 6 below. We have also provided you with links to guidance issued by the Information Commissioner’s Office which we have followed in responding to your request.

Can you please clarify to which part of process your request relates to: 

The online Initial Selection Test (IST), as opposed to the online application?

Clarification Received
My request relates to the online initial selection test (IST).  My request relates to fairness, and equality. What I know is I have received some feedback from the latest PSNI recruitment, campaign I know that applicants have had help from family members completing the IST, at home. Successful applicants will be invited to a venue by the PSNI.

What percentage of applicants finished the 18 questions that was requested by the PSNI to answer as part of the online application process?

Answer 1

Statistics around the number of questions completed per IST element, per person, are not reported to PSNI or to our recruitment provider, Deloitte, by the test platform host.

I have been told that these questions where difficult even with help of family members if the PSNI recruits failed to answer all 18 questions would the recruits be automatically rejected or would they proceed to the next stage.

Answer 2

Candidates would not be automatically rejected if they were to fail to answer all IST questions. Providing they meet the overall minimum IST standard set by Deloitte (based on what they have completed), the candidate can still progress in the recruitment process, even if they have not finished all questions.

What is the percentage of applicants have had to resit there IST, at the venue.

The assessment centre stage of the recruitment process has not commenced as yet.

Could you give me a breakdown on how many recruits from a protestant background have passed the IST, and how many have failed the IST?

In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does not hold information in relation to your requests. Enquiries made in relation to your request failed to locate any records or documents relevant to your request based on the information you have provided.

We do not hold nationality data in terms of completion of the Initial Selection Test so would be unable to provide a response to this question. 

Accordingly, we have determined that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does not hold the information to which you seek access.
