In relation to the 12 month period 14 March 2022 to 14 March 2023, please provide:
The total number of non-crime hate incidents recorded by the PSNI, broken down by individual "hate" characteristics (e.g. Race, Disability, Gender Reassignment etc.) If it is not possible to provide the information broken down by individual characteristics, please just provide the total number of incidents recorded. If individual incidents may be flagged with more than one characteristic please indicate this in your response.

The number of hate motivated incidents where no crime was recorded, by financial year, is published in our annual Trends in Hate Motivated Incidents and Crimes bulletin. Additionally, we provide information on the number of hate motivated incidents where no crime was recorded for the race, sexual orientation and sectarian strands in our quarterly Hate Motivated Incidents and Crimes bulletins.

Exemption Explained
Section 17(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires the Police Service of Northern Ireland, when refusing to provide such information (because the information is exempt) to provide the applicant with a notice which:
(a) states the fact,
(b) specifies the exemption in question and
(c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.
The following exemption has been applied:
Section 21 - Information Reasonably Accessible by Other Means - Information which is easily accessible to the applicant otherwise than under Section 1 is exempt information.
