Request Number: FOI/15300
Category: Finance and Procurement – Finance
Subject: Policing Museum
Request and Answer:
There is a new NI Policing Museum being opened up. £5.5m with an additional £385,000 secured from the RUC PTR pension settlement. This has been widely reported in various news reports.
Request 1
Was this money meant to be given to the RUC PTR?
Request 2
Has this been secured to the financial detriment of individual officers who may have been eligible for RUC PTR pension settlement, ie, was monies in the settlement used which lowered the financial settlement to RUC PTR officers or PSNI POPT officers who took the case?
Request 3
RUC PTR officers were never made aware of a pension for RUC PTR. Was there one that was never made known prior to the Thompson / Marks case against the PSNI? This was part of the reason for the PSNI POPT case being taken.
Request 4
Why has money not been taken from the Full time Reserve pension case where they were substantially back paid or the Regular Officers pension payments too?
Request 5
What pension settlement was this £395,000 from exactly and what was it meant for? It is relatively small sum from the smallest group of officers within the PSNI.
Request 6
Why was this money never given to any RUC or PSNI part time officers and held by PSNI for at least 10 years, possibly more?
