Subject: Road Traffic Accidents on Killymore Road
Request and Answer:
Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.
Question
We confirm we act on behalf of our above client who is the owner of [named company]. He was the owner of a lorry that skidded off the Killymore Road (B46), Newtownstewart, Omagh and overturned on (date provided) in or around 5.45/5.50pm. We had written to you on 20 June 2024 to enquire whether there were any other previous similar accidents that have occurred in the same location in the last 10 years, can you forward details please?
Answer
PSNI have interpreted and responded to your request seeking ‘injury’ road traffic collision (RTC) data, which is collated by PSNI’s Statistics Branch.
PSNI do not hold all the information regarding road traffic collisions on a central database, and data for ‘damage only collisions’ is held on the database ‘NICHE’. This data cannot be retrieved from a script and therefore requires a manual review in an attempt to extract the information search. Unfortunately, from previous requests it is most likely the request will exceed the FOI legislative cost of 18 hours. Please note that once part of a FOI request exceeds the cost we are not obliged to respond to the remainder requests.
Please see in the separate document data for injury involved RTC’s reported to police, for the period from 1st September 2015 to 31st August 2025, which is the latest available 10 year period of data.
Please note that the data for the period of 1st April 2025 31st August 2025 is currently provisional and subject to change.
