Category: Roads Policing and Safety Cameras - Road Traffic Collisions

Subject: Road Traffic Accidents at Specific Location

Request and Answer:
Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Request
The number of accidents on the A43 Glenravel Road, Cargan, where the vehicle has left the road, crashed through a fence and landed in a field.

55°0010.8"N
6°0928.9W
Cargan, Ballymena

Clarification Sought:
Can you please provide a date range for your request?

Clarification Received:
I am keen to know how many accidents have occurred at that location within the last ten years.

Answer
PSNI can confirm for the 10 year period, 1st October 2015 to 30th September 2025, there has been one injury involved road traffic collision reported to police at that location where a vehicle involved has left the road and come to rest off the carriageway on adjoining land. We cannot provide any detail on whether the vehicle “crashed through a fence”.

Please note that the above response was compiled using data covering all 'injury involved collisions' at the location or within 50m of said location. Unfortunately, to retrieve data for ‘damage only collisions’, as this information is held on the database NICHE, would require a manual search of the data. It has been proved previously that manual trawl almost always brings the request to over cost. Please note that once part of a FOI request exceeds the cost we are not obliged to respond to the remainder requests.

Data for the period 1st April to 30th September 2025 is provisional and subject to change.
