Request Number: FOI/16465

Category: Roads Policing and Safety Cameras - Road Traffic Collisions

Subject: Road Traffic Collisions at Dundrod Crossroads over the last three years.

Request and Answer:
Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act, we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold the information you have requested to which your request relates.  The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Request 1
Please outline how many road traffic collisions have been recorded in the last 3 years in and around Dundrod Crossroads, which encompasses - Dundrod Road, Carnaghliss Road, Quarterlands Road and Leathemstown Road.

Answer
Please see attached PDF.

We have interpreted your request as to Injury Involved Road Traffic Collisions data, which is held and Quality Assured by the PSNI.  PSNI do not hold all the information regarding ‘road traffic collisions’ on a central database.

While PSNI hold central statistics for ‘injury road traffic’ collisions, to retrieve data for ‘damage only collisions’, as this information is held on the database NICHE, would require a manual search of the data. It has been proved previously that manual trawl almost always brings the request to over cost. Please note that once part of a FOI request exceeds the cost we are not obliged to respond to the remainder requests.’

The full text of exemptions can be found at www.legislation.gov.uk and further guidance on how they operate can be located on the Information Commissioners Office website www.ico.org.uk.
