Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Under the freedom of information act I am requesting information on sex offenders in the north down area.
Answer 1
North Down is included in the Ards and North Down Policing District. The Ards element has been removed from figures by using the home ward areas to compile data:
- Ballycrochan
- Ballygrainey
- Ballyholme
- Ballymagee
- Bloomfield
- Broadway
- Bryansburn
- Carrowdore
- Castle
- Clandeyboye
- Cultra
- Donaghadee
- Groomsport
- Harbour
- Helen’s Bay
- Holywood
- Kilcooley
- Loughview
- Rathgael
- Rathmore
- Silverbirch
- Silverstream
- Warren.
Within North Down there are presently 90 Managed / Registered Sexual Offenders, incorporating those currently resident there and those presently incarcerated. ‘Managed / Registered Sexual Offenders’ includes those managed persons with a qualifying sexual offence conviction, which includes convictions for sexual offences against children. PSNI cannot provide a ‘list’ of these individuals; this would be in breach of the Data Protection Act 2018.
Data is not available for the more general category of ‘sex offenders’, otherwise understood to be those persons with a sexual offence conviction but not restricted to those currently managed / registered. Instead, data is only readily available for those convicted sexual offenders currently managed / registered as such.
