Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Question 1
Please provide data showing how many report of shootings your force has received between 2020-2025. Please break data down per year. For the year 2025, please provide data as close to the present date as possible.

Please search for the terms "gunshot", "gun shot", "shooting", "firearm", "bullet", "shot".

A shooting is defined as the act of discharging a firearm.

The following data was obtained using search criteria: 'gunshot' or 'gun shot' or 'shooting' or 'firearm' or 'bullet' or 'shot' along with the Firearms Incident and then Firearms Offence closing codes.

This does include searches and arrests linked to other firearms offences

Question 2
Please also provide data showing how many firearms you have recovered and confiscated between 2020-2025. Please break data down per year. For the year 2025, please provide data as close to the present date as possible.

Clarification requested: Do you want this data to include firearms that have been revoked due to questionable suitability of an Firearms Certificate holder to continue holding a certificate? Or just data where unlicensed/Illegally held firearms are recovered or confiscated?

Clarification received: Please include both (all confiscations).

Below data is based on property type 'Firearm' and has a classification of ‘Seized’ and has a Recovery date greater or equal to 01 Jan 2019 to current period.
