I am submitting an FOI request for the following information relating to smoking in cars. Please return data broken down and split annually from 1st January 2015 to 31st December 2024.

How many fines and fixed penalty notices has your force issued under the Children and Families Act 2014 for smoking in a private vehicle with children (under 18 years old) present?
Answer 1
In 2022, 8 fixed penalty notices had been issued for this offence.
In 2023, 10 fixed penalty notices had been issued for this offence.
In 2024, 5 fixed penalty notices had been issued for this offence.

How many incidents and warnings under the Children and Families Act 2014 for smoking in a private vehicle with children (under 18 years old) present has your force identified?
Answer 2
In 2022, 1 incident was recorded for ‘Person smoking in a smoke free private enclosed vehicle’.
In 2023, 3 incidents were recorded for ‘Person smoking in a smoke free private enclosed vehicle’.
In 2024, 1 incident was recorded for ‘Person smoking in a smoke free private enclosed vehicle’.
There were no warnings recorded on the electronic system for these incidents.
