Your request for information has now been considered. In respect of Section 1(1)(a) of the Act we can confirm that the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) does hold information to which your request relates. The decision has been taken to disclose the following.

Question 1
How many cases of theft that involved theft of tools in: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025?

Question 2
Can you also provide a breakdown of all outcome types for the recorded cases in:

a) 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025,

b) In particular for these two outcomes:

i) Investigation complete - no suspect identified

ii) charged/Summonsed

Answer
The following table is based on all recorded burglary, robbery and theft offences where property described as machinery and tools was classified as stolen, during the period January 2019 - December 2025.

The currently assigned outcome may be updated as investigations are completed or new information becomes available. Out of Court outcomes include Cautions, Penalty Notice for Disorders, and Community Resolution Notices. Other outcomes includes where a prosecution was prevented or was dealt with by another agency.
