Detectives are appealing for information following the report of an aggravated burglary in Newtownards.

Detective Sergeant Westbury said: "It was reported to police that a male had been assaulted in the Killard Heights area of the town.

"It is believed that at around 9am this morning, Thursday 26th March, that a number of masked suspects forced entry to the property and assaulted a male with hammers and bats.

"On police attendance, the property was observed to have damage to windows. 

"The suspects have made off from the scene immediately after the assault. 

"The victim is currently being treated in hospital for injuries to his arms and legs.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information about this, or specifically anyone who may have relevant video footage, CCTV, doorbell or other to get in contact with police on 101 quoting reference 311 26/03/26."
