Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for witnesses and information following an arson attack in the early hours of this morning, Saturday, 28th March.
Detective Sergeant Crothers said: “We received a report at around 3.05am that two suspected petrol bombs had been thrown at a ground-floor flat in the Drumtara area.
“Officers attended the scene, where colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service were already present. On arrival, evidence of petrol bombs was noted and the living room window was also smashed.
“One person was in the flat at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported, however, this was obviously a shock for them and there was significant damage caused to the interior of their home.
“This is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life and our enquiries are ongoing.
“We’re keen to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area around the time of the report to get in touch with us on the 101 number, quoting reference 132 of 28/03/26.
“Alternatively, you can submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/.”
