Detectives are appealing for information following the report of a distraction style burglary at a house in the Derg View area of Castlederg, on Wednesday 22nd October.
It was reported to police that a man called to a house in the area, purporting to be from the Housing Executive, sometime between 10am & 11am on Wednesday morning. The man stated that he needed to conduct checks at the property and was allowed entry by the female resident, a woman aged in her 80s. When the man left the property, the resident noticed that a sum of money had been taken from her purse.
The man is described as being aged in his 30’s and wore work clothes and was carrying a notepad and pen.
Enquiries into this incident are continuing and detectives would appeal to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on Wednesday morning, to contact them at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference number 817 22/10/25.
