Police in Newtownabbey are appealing for information following a report of an arson attack last night, Sunday 14th June.
Sergeant Knox said: "At approximately 11.40pm, it was reported that a vehicle was set alight in the Mournebeg Drive area.
"Officers attended along with colleagues from Northern Ireland Fire Service, who extinguished the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of the incident, which is being treated as a racially motivated hate crime at this time.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious behaviour at the time of the report, or had witnessed a male on an e-scooter in the area.
“We are appealing to anyone with any information, CCTV, dash-cam or other footage of the area that could help with our investigation to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1818 of 14/06/26.”
