Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a report of a burglary in Ballymoney on Friday night, 30th January.
Inspector Dalzell said: “We received a report at around 9.15pm on Friday that two masked men, armed with weapons, had attacked a property in the Carnany Park area and assaulted a woman within the house.
“Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, who took the woman on to hospital for treatment to her injuries.
“There were a number of people in the property at the time of the attack, including another woman and a man, along with a number of children.
“A significant amount of damage was caused to the interior of the house, with numerous items smashed before the men made off. We believe the suspects turned right after leaving the house and then ran down an alleyway beside the next-door property.
"This was a very distressing incident for all concerned, particularly given the fact there were a number of children in the house while all of this was going on.
“We would therefore appeal to anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information, including CCTV, dash-cam or other footage, to contact police on the 101 number, quoting reference 1488 of 30/01/26.
“You can also submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/.”
