Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following the reports of burglaries in the Newcastle area in the early hours of Saturday 30th May.
Police received the first report at 2.30am of an ongoing burglary at a house in Golf Links Crescent area. Officers attended and a short time later arrested a 39 year old man on suspicion of burglary, handling stolen goods and going equipped for theft and he currently remains in police custody. Further reports were received later on Saturday morning of two break-ins at houses in the Merrion Avenue area, which are believed to have been carried out sometime between 2am and 4am.
Detectives would ask anyone who was in either area and noticed any suspicious behaviour or who has dash-cam or video footage to contact them at Ardmore station on 101, quoting reference number 184 30/05/26.
