A 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, who had been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, have now both been released unconditionally.
The pair had been arrested as part of an investigation into a serious assault in an apartment in the Holywood Road area of east Belfast on 12 May, and were later released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Duffie said: “Following the death of Nicholas Gordon, two men were subsequently arrested in Scotland, on 18 May, on suspicion of murder.
The two men, aged 25 and 31, will be returned to Northern Ireland for questioning today.
“Our enquiries are continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101, quoting reference 224 of 12/05/24.”
