An Enniskillen man has been sentenced following an investigation into drug-related criminality in the Fermanagh town.
Sean Duffy, aged 39, appeared before Dungannon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 7th July on charges including being concerned in the supply of class A and class B controlled drugs.
Commenting, Sergeant Robinson of Fermanagh & Omagh District Support Team said: “In August 2023, our team arrested Sean Duffy as part of our ongoing investigation into drug-related criminality. We seized two vehicles – a BMW and a Lexus - belonging to Duffy, alongside his mobile phones.
“Forensic examination of the phones uncovered messages which strongly suggested not only that Duffy was involved in drug supply, but also that he was directing the activities of a number of others believed to be involved in drug dealing. Furthermore, the messages extracted also suggested that Duffy had converted criminal property, namely cash from the sale of controlled drugs, to vehicle purchases.
“Faced with this evidence, Duffy entered a guilty plea to a number of charges at an earlier court hearing. Yesterday, he was handed a sentence of three years’ imprisonment - with half to be served in custody, and half on licence. He is to be sentenced for the offence of possession of criminal property at a later date.
Sergeant Robinson continued: “Tackling illegal drug supply is a priority for us here in Fermanagh and Omagh district.
“Drugs bring misery to individuals, families and communities and today's sentencing sends a clear message to anyone who thinks they can get away with supplying them – you won’t escape justice.
