Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Newtownards.

Detective Inspector Handley said: “At approximately 10.10pm on Monday, 16th March we received a report that a property in the Blenheim Drive area of the town had been vandalised a short time earlier.

“Two women were inside the house at approximately 9.30pm when three masked men armed with hammers and dressed in dark clothing entered the property.

“The suspects ransacked every room in the house as well as breaking windows – they also smashed phones belonging to the two women –  ordering them not to leave until they had done so.

“The women were uninjured, but left terrified by what happened - this would have been a frightening experience for them.

“Enquiries are continuing to determine a motive and who was involved. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage of the area or who noticed suspicious behaviour. Please phone us on 101, quoting reference number 1912 16/03/26.”
