Police in Derry / Londonderry have made an arrest after two police officers were assaulted in the city last night, Friday 17th April.
Sergeant Sweeney said: “Officers attended a report of an ongoing fight involving two men in the Sackville Street area which was made shortly before 9.30pm.
“One of the men was reported to have behaved in an aggressive manner towards police, during which a bottle which he was holding smashed.
“Two officers sustained hand and arm injuries as a result.
“A male aged in his late teens was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault on police and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and remains in police custody at this time.
“Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone who might have any information which could assist officers is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 1839 of 17/04/26.”
